There are a ton of stray cats and dogs. The dogs look better off than the cats. They have a variety of dog breeds as pets, unlike Japan and their foxish dog. I've only seen 1 dog on a leash so far. Other dogs just walk ahead of their owners. So it's hard to know if some are pets or strays. I've never seen any dogs being petted. I've seen stray dogs cross the street by them self waiting for a red light at the cross walk.
Butting boys in pink is not unusual here. No wonder my mother-in-law is always getting the boys things with pink in it.
From the bus I've seen a lady at 3pm in her pj's taking her dog out, a Mr. Miyagi double, ping pong tables at a park (you bring your own net), children chewing on a foot of sugar cane. I have seen 2 girls wearing fake glasses. Glasses minus the lenses. Is this a fashion statement?
The streets are a dangerous place here. Drivers driving around pot holes, honking at people walking, pedal bikes, (quiet) electric bikes and 3 wheeled carts. I think of all these old people who grew up when the streets were filled with only walkers and bikes. Everyone walks through the traffic when it's moving to get to the other side. QI hope my kids don't try to do this when we get back home. There are a lot of kid seats on bikes. Not with any foot holds or straps to hold them in either. A little kid just holding on bouncing down the street. Or standing on a moped in front of the driver with their hands stuck in the hand warmer handle bars. These kids have amazing balance. I fear for their safety.
Been looking for a normal sized container of raisins instead of the huge craisin sized bag you get from Sams. So I found one and it looked like they were sugar coated. I almost bought some salted dried fruits. So I turned it over and low and behold there was English. Aspartame, they put aspartame on the raisins. What is wrong with them. Aren't raisins supposed to be sweetened the way nature intended them? I was appalled. And I've wanted to buy gum, but it's very hard to find a sugar gum now that doesn't have aspartame added to it. Remember all the soldiers that got sick from the Diet pop. Well aspartame put into your 98.6 mouth just releases all those nasty chemicals right into your head. Wow I'm getting older and starting to get scared about how unhealthy food is today. The way food is genetically altered. The Jetson's don't seem to far off on their dinner capsules.
I've been watching some TV. At first it was to write down which channels are kids shows. Then I finished my Korean drama I was watching back home with subtitles, here no English subtitles but I got the gist of it. I watched a Taiwanese movie. I loved the 2nd Pink Panther movie. It's been years since I saw the first one and I think the 2nd was much better, I laughed so hard. I found a channel that shows a lot of nature or human plant shows and glad to see the boys are enjoying it(I was raised on Marty Stouffer), even though it's in Chinese. Sometimes I can tell them all about what we are watching. Like the episode on volcanoes. The boys asked me how I knew so much. Today they had some sky burial of some possibly Himalayan type place. Thankfully they did not show everything, what I gather is they hack up the body for the vultures. Gross. Some channels have English at certain times of the day. I've gotten hooked on a Canadian TV show Being Erica, started in 2009 and ran 4 seasons. Problem is it ends at midnight. So I need more sleep.
One of the phrases in a Chinese app I downloaded was "He did not pay his debt and disappeared." Scary. So this happens so regularly they thought it was a necessary to learn this phrase?
"El medico como el pan." How often have you used that one? Let's hope Chinese "Learnables" are as random.
