Chipmunck anyone?

St. Patty's Day passed without any flair.  We even ate breakfast at McDonald's, the poor kids wanted to get a happy meal(for the toy).  No shamrock shake to celebrate.  Well at least we did have cabbage in one of our lunch dishes.
Monday I went out by myself to the Chairman gate shopping street and went the easy way that I know the bus passes.  Before I even got there, I got sidetracked.  I saw a big supermarket, so I got off, 4 stops into my journey.  It was Xi Lang Lang(Pleasant goat and Big Bad Wolf) jackpot.  I got shopping bags, comic books, easy reader books, bowls and plates in this theme.  So now I had to lug my shopping bag around while I walked around.  This counts as exercise right?
Took my sweet time looking around not buying anything.  Can't wait to get back on Monday and take my mom there.  But I have got to remember to pack one of the kids shirts to measure sizes.  The clothing sizes are not consistant as well several different sizes are used.  Like 4,5,6 vs 56, 60, 160.  I can't remember what size they are.  Shoes are just as confusing.  There are so many cute kid shoes, but I dare not by them yet, because I can never remember what size they are.  My mother-in-law error on the side of I'll grow in them in a couple of years.  I want them to fit so they don't fall on their face.
There are a lot of street vendors, from breakfast sandwiches, haw on a stick to pineapple carts.  Sometimes there will be 4 pineapple carts lined up on one corner.  I never think about how they got there, until I see one pull up or leave and they throw a heavy dirty looking drop cloth over the already cut up pineapples.  Gross, not all use plastic bags to individually wrap them.
Today I went by myself to the haggler alley close to our house and got a pair of those lenseless glasses!  More for joke.  You see a lot more hats here than you do back home.  I think Asian's in general wear them more, since they are out walking or waiting in the sun and not driving around in air conditioned cars.  So I'm seeing a lot of cute hats.  I had to pick one up with a big ant on it, hopping it would fit Aidan.   Yes, it does.  Trying to find cute big boy hats, they all seem to be in the color block of black, gray, brown, and dark blue.  I did find a colorful one, but it had a saying on it about death, that I didn't find kid appropriate.
I'm still surprised at all the Japanese stuff I find here.  I found a rotating sushi bar that I can't wait to go to.  I went to the Japanese restaurant in Tessco's and got Katsudon, served with miso and cukes.  Yum.  At malls, the stores I gravitate to, all cutsie and knick-knacky are all Japanese wares.  Even at the toy store most of the cool toys, trains, are from Japan.  And lots of Totoro!  Unfortunately I can't justify buying myself a big 'ol Totoro,  packing space will be at a premium.
First time the youngest actually wet the bed since being off of diapers for about 2 months.  Bad thing, he wasn't in his bed with the pad protector.  No, he was in my bed, waiting for someone to get out of the bathroom at some ungodly  hour.  So the rest of the night(morning) I slept on the couch.  It was actually must more comfortable then my bed.
On the bus I've noticed old men have walnuts in their hands.  I finally figured out they are fake nuts and they are using like an exercise ball.  I was confused because they eat a lot of different seeds and nuts.  They are always spitting the shells all over the ground, elevator or bus.
At the pet booth besides your little birds and fish, they have lots of turtles from half dollar size to palm sized, chipmunks and salamander/newts in the colors of black, white and yellow.  Can you imagine if our chipmunk got loose in your house?!?  See how lucky we are, we can get free chipmunks in the Midwest.  And they are already trained, because they never leave.  Who really says I want a chipmunck as a pet?
It's always fun to go to the grocery store.  We stocked up a weeks supply of apple, strawberry and blueberry yogurt drink boxes for the boys.  We wandered over by the fish tanks and watched them pull the big (bull) frogs out of the tanks and stuff them in a plastic bag.  It's more a catch it your self, so we watched a few women catch their fish, one was wildly thrashing around in the net and she beat it several times against the wall to kill it.  Ethan now pretends to kill fish by whacking his toys against the walls and furniture.

                                                                Katsudon

Everyone is enjoying the fake glasses!
