I solely went to the Beijing Botanical Garden to go to the Bee Museum. It was not listed on any maps and so I asked several people if they knew where the Bzzzzz museum was. Maybe Bzzzzzz is not universal for bee?
Another by accident I happened to see a faded sign with a bee on it. So I followed it and found some plaques in English.: Key laboratory of Pollinating Insect Biology and Testing site for quality of bee products. The Bee Museum is free and was un-manned the whole time I was there. Very limited English, just category headings. Nice collection though. My camera battery died so these are all the pictures I took.
Outside there was a cluster of buildings, some looked administrative, others like living quarters. It may have also been like a school or research facility for pollination.
Along the lengths of 2 buildings were beehive after beehive. Another section had beehives behind bars, as it was outside of the entry gate. Several people walking around in bee suits or just the headpiece.
I watched 2 people go through each frame of a hive. I assume looking for a queen bee. They had what looked like a shell hairclip to get at the bees.
I went back to the tourist booth near the entrance and showed them where the Bee museum was. It's on the back side of the Magnolia(lily) section, entry path (uphill) before the Mei Flower Garden section. When traveling the main path back to the Wofu Temple, at the last break off turn left instead, you may start to see faded bee signs.
On the bus back to the subway I looked out the otherside as we past 5 patches of hives and their little roadside honey stands. Litterly the whole operation was on the side of the road. I would've thought they'd put the hives back further from the sidewalk.
