Jingshan Park

Across the street to Jingshan Park, cheapest park I've been to so far at 2 rmb.  But I guess since it's sandwiched between two bigger, expensive sights of the Forbidden City and Beihai you  need to make it cheap so people don't skip it.  They did have some cheaper souvenirs.
Great scenic view over Beijing as well as the Forbidden City.  We only climbed the mountain past the 5 pavilions.  All where pillaged, contents taken or destroyed but the largest on top.
The history:  From as far back as the Yuan dynasty of 1271 it served as an imperial garden and hunting ground to the royal family.  The hill was man made.  The pavilions were built in 1751.  Last emperor of the Ming dynasty hung himself in 1644.  Originally part of the Forbidden City though separated by the moat.  Made separate when the road was built.  Opened to the public in 1928 and formerly became a park in 1949.
